The H.E.A.R Method
The H.E.A.R method is a simple way to slow down in Scripture and engage with the Holy Spirit to hear God speak.
We recommend that you set aside time and space each day to practice this. Start in prayer asking God to speak. Ask with faith in his many promises to speak directly to you, as a Father, a counselor, and one who offers wisdom, and provider to meet all of our needs.
H - Highlight
Write down a verse or two that stood out to you. Note the book, chapter, and verse, and give the entry a short title so you can find it later.
E - Explain
Before you ask what it means to you, find out what it meant. What's happening in the passage? Who wrote it, and who was it written to? How does it connect to what comes before and after?
A - Apply
Bring it to your own life. What does this passage teach you about God? What would living it out actually look like this week?
R - Respond
Turn what you've seen into something you do: a prayer, a decision, a change you're naming out loud. Write it down.
Do this on your own, then bring it to your group. HEAR works because it's shared, not just journaled alone.
